Designed by Hong Kong architect Rocco Yim, its modernist structure—inspired by traditional Chinese courtyard layouts and bronze textures—bridges imperial grandeur with contemporary innovation. Housing over 900 priceless artifacts from Beijing’s Palace Museum (the Forbidden City), alongside rotating global exhibitions, HKPM illuminates 5,000 years of Chinese art, history, and craftsmanship. From Ming dynasty ceramics to Qing court paintings, HKPM reimagines imperial treasures for global audience.

  • Cafe 7 Kee, Lung Shing Barbershop, Dentist’s Clinic, Corner Store, Bone-Setting Clinic, Tailor Shop, and Repair Workshop
  • Fish Ball Factory and Plastic Workshop (with scent installations simulating the original factory smells)
  • Wells and communal areas, reflecting authentic daily life
  • Light & Shadow Rooftop: complete with a large projection screen and realistic airplane sound effects to recreate the iconic low-flying aircraft above the city
The exhibition also incorporates elements of traditional Hong Kong craftsmanship:
  • A large hand-painted floral banner at the entrance, reminiscent of festive decorations
