Close your eyes. Think of the last Hong Kong film that moved you.
Chances are, it wasn’t the fight scene you remember most — it was the meal. The steam rising from a bowl pushed across a cramped table. The silence between two people who love each other but have forgotten how to say it, broken only by the clink of chopsticks on ceramic. In Hong Kong cinema, a meal is never a scene. It’s the secret. The grudge. The reunion that was never meant to be spoken out loud.
For a hotel that has always lived inside the frame, that truth was never going to stay on the plate.

This October, the Hong Kong Tourism Board unveiled “Hong Kong Good Take — 香港連場好戲”, a city-wide film-tourism guide built around 50 beloved titles and more than 100 filming locations — from the Star Ferry pier featured in Cold War II, to the Temple Street neon that lit up C’est la vie, mon chéri, to the West Kowloon waterfront where a ten-years-later reunion unfolds in Law and the City. Backed by a five-episode TVB series — Love, Action, Drama, Hollywood Movies, Asian Movies & Dramas — rolling out on five consecutive Saturday nights from 24 October, the message is a simple one: Hong Kong’s streets are the set. All you have to do is walk on.
The through-line is unmistakable, because it’s a story Regent Hong Kong has been living for decades.
Long before “film tourism” had a name, the hotel was already a favoured stage — Pierce Brosnan navigating the 1988 miniseries Noble House and the 1995 spy thriller Nightwatch within these very walls, the glamour of 1980s Dynasty reflected in the harbour beyond the windows. Our cinematic aura was never imposed. It was inherited — frame by frame, production by production.
So when the city decided to turn its silver screen outward, we didn’t need to reinvent ourselves. We simply needed to open the door.

It began at the table. A Cinematic Taste of Hong Kong, presented at The Lobby Lounge in collaboration with the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild, translated iconic on-screen moments into a refined dining journey: Executive Chef Calvin Choi’s lobster-and-fresh-prawn wonton noodle soup, cradled in a golden stock perfumed with dried yellow croaker and lobster oil; Iberico pork char siu rice “topped with a hat”, the kind of off-hand kindness that carries a whole brotherhood; an Angus beef-and-mantis-shrimp ball that pops like the best kind of Hong Kong punchline; and a golden French toast that tastes like every unhurried morning this city has ever offered — finished, perhaps, with a smashed-date put chai ko that says everything no one ever dared to speak.
You don’t need to know the films to feel it. But if you do, the resonance is extraordinary.

Developed with the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild, A Cinematic Journey — 香港電影場景巡禮 is a bespoke map drawn for Regent Hong Kong guests: a private editing suite of the city’s most resonant frames, available through the concierge during your stay. It doesn’t ask you to tick off locations. It invites you to step into a scene, and let Hong Kong do the rest.
The World of Suzie Wong (1960) — Your first step.
That elegant moment when Robert Lomax, played by William Holden, first sets foot in Hong Kong. Begin where the film begins — right beside the hotel. Stroll along the waterfront, then cross on the Star Ferry, the same short crossing that opens a thousand screen stories. The harbour, after all, is the longest take in any Hong Kong film.
Rouge (1987) — The hill that remembers.
Follow Anita Mui’s Fleur back to the mortal world, the winding Hill Road Flyover curling behind her like a held breath — one of the most haunting frames in the city’s cinema memory. Cross to Shek Tong Tsui in Sai Wan and explore the Hill Road area on foot. This is a scene best entered on foot.
Why It Matters — And Why Here
What makes the experience singular is not the ingredients, nor the itinerary — though both are exquisite. It is the continuity.
Sit down to a bowl of wonton noodles at The Lobby Lounge with Victoria Harbour beyond the windows. Later, you’re standing on the exact stairway where a director once placed his lead. The same city that fed the scene is now feeding you; the same harbour that framed the shot is framing your evening. Cinema and cuisine, as our friend director Soi Cheang puts it, are the same art at heart — “of timing, of patience, and of soul.”
That is the quiet promise of A Curated Cultural Experience: not a menu, not a tour, not a tribute. A conversation. Between you and the cultural soul of Hong Kong, with Regent Hong Kong as the discreet narrator who knows exactly where every scene was shot.
This is how a Regent stay is designed to unfold now:
The curtain rises. The harbour shimmers. A plate arrives — and then, a street, a stairway, a ferry crossing that suddenly feels like a line you’ve waited your whole life to step into.
This is where the story begins. And this time, you’re in it.
A cinema-inspired culinary journey at The Lobby Lounge, created with the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild. Each dish is drawn from an iconic Hong Kong film moment and reimagined through the craft of Executive Chef Calvin Choi — served against the panorama of Victoria Harbour.
A Regent Hong Kong guest-exclusive film-map experience, curated with the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild. It links the hotel to iconic filming locations across the city — from The World of Suzie Wong and Rouge to In the Mood for Love — with route notes and bespoke extensions arranged through your stay.
Launched in October 2026, HKTB’s city-wide guide spotlights 50 films and 100+ locations across themed neighbourhood trails. Regent Hong Kong’s cinematic menu and guest map are our own harbour-front chapter of that same invitation — the most intimate frame in a city that’s currently rolling out the red carpet.
Speak with our concierge when you book. Routes, timings and bespoke experiences are curated to your stay.
