Art March Hong Kong 2026: A City Becomes a Canvas — And We're Right Where It All Happens

March 16, 2026

Every March, something shifts in Hong Kong. Gallery doors open wider. Conversations get more interesting. The Victoria Harbour seems to hold its breath for a moment, as though making space for something bigger. Art March is that something — a month-long outpouring of exhibitions, performances, fairs, and ideas that transforms a city already famous for its energy into one of the most compelling cultural destinations on the planet.

At Regent Hong Kong, we don’t just watch it happen. We feel it. Our home on Victoria Harbour — steps from the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, a short ferry ride from the Convention and Exhibition Centre, and surrounded by some of the city’s most important museums — puts us at the physical heart of Art March. But location alone isn’t why this season means so much to us. It’s because we love Hong Kong. We love what this city becomes when the world’s collectors, curators, and creators descend upon it. And we are proud, year after year, to be part of the story — welcoming guests who come not just for luxury, but for the culture that makes this city unlike anywhere else.

Whether you are here to bid on your next acquisition or simply to feel the pulse of a city in full creative bloom, here is our guide to the events that matter most this March — and how to get to every one of them from our front door.

Art Basel Hong Kong 2026

The crown jewel of Art March needs little introduction. Art Basel returns with 240 leading galleries representing 41 countries and territories, making it one of the most significant gatherings of contemporary art in Asia. The 2026 edition introduces “Echoes,” a brand-new sector dedicated to highly curated works created within the last five years — a forward-looking addition that signals where the art world is heading, not just where it’s been. Don’t miss the M+ Facade illumination by artist Shahzia Sikander, a striking visual meditation on historical trade routes and modern global exchange that lights up the West Kowloon waterfront after dark.

Dates: March 27–29, 2026 (VIP Previews: March 25–26)
Venue: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Wan Chai

From Regent Hong Kong: The most scenic route is also the most iconic — walk ten minutes along the waterfront promenade to the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier, board the ferry to Wan Chai, and follow the covered walkway directly into the HKCEC. Total travel time is around 20 minutes, and every minute of it is beautiful. If speed is the priority, the East Rail Line from East Tsim Sha Tsui Station reaches Exhibition Centre Station in about 15 minutes, with a direct link to the venue. A taxi through the Cross-Harbour Tunnel takes 10 to 15 minutes, traffic permitting.

Art Central 2026

Now in its 11th edition, Art Central has earned its reputation as the fair that champions what’s next. Set in a striking architect-designed pavilion on the Central Harbourfront, this year’s edition brings together over 100 galleries, a vibrant five-day programme of live performances, and the debut of “Central Stage” — a new sector that puts emerging voices front and centre. If Art Basel is the grand museum, Art Central is the artist’s studio with the door wide open.

Dates: March 25–29, 2026 (VIP Preview: March 24)
Venue: Central Harbourfront

From Regent Hong Kong: Take the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central Pier — Art Central sits just a few minutes’ walk from Pier 9, making this one of the most pleasant commutes in the city. By MTR, the Tsuen Wan Line runs directly to Central Station; use Exit A and walk toward the harbourfront. Travel time is roughly 15 to 20 minutes either way.

The 54th Hong Kong Arts Festival

While the art fairs command global headlines, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is the beating heart of the city’s performing arts calendar. Running throughout March, the 54th edition brings together over 1,100 international and local artists across more than 170 performances. Highlights for 2026 include the Asia premiere of La Bella Otero by the Ballet Nacional de España, performances by the celebrated Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and visionary contemporary dance productions such as Alan Lucien Øyen’s Antigone. It is the kind of programme that rewards the curious — and Regent guests are in the most fortunate position to explore it.

Dates: February 27 – March 30, 2026
Venues: Various across the city

From Regent Hong Kong: Many of the festival’s marquee performances take place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, which is literally steps from the hotel — a two-minute walk, at most. For performances at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Wan Chai, take the East Rail Line to Exhibition Centre Station or a short taxi ride through the Cross-Harbour Tunnel, arriving in approximately 15 minutes.

ComplexCon Hong Kong 2026

Art March isn’t confined to gallery walls. For those whose tastes run toward the intersection of style, sneakers, music, and pop culture, ComplexCon is an essential stop. With renowned artist Kasing Lung serving as the 2026 Artistic Director, this dynamic weekend festival promises immersive exhibitions, exclusive product drops, and the kind of energy that only happens when global street culture gathers under one roof.

Dates: March 21–22, 2026
Venue: AsiaWorld-Expo

From Regent Hong Kong: This one’s a bit further afield, but well worth the trip. Take a short taxi ride to Kowloon Station, then board the Airport Express directly to AsiaWorld-Expo Station — total travel time is around 40 minutes. A direct taxi from the hotel lobby takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes along the highway.

Tai Kwun Art Week 2026

In collaboration with Art Basel, Tai Kwun — Hong Kong’s beautifully restored heritage compound in the heart of Central — transforms into a vibrant cultural hub during Art March, hosting live performances, extended gallery hours, and special lifestyle programmes. The setting itself is reason enough to visit: a former police station and prison complex reimagined as one of the city’s most atmospheric cultural destinations.

Dates: March 23–29, 2026
Venue: Tai Kwun, Central

From Regent Hong Kong: Take the Tsuen Wan MTR Line from Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Central Station (Exit D2). From there, a short walk uphill brings you to the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, which connects directly to Tai Kwun. Travel time is about 25 minutes.

There is a reason Regent Hong Kong feels so deeply connected to Art March — and it goes beyond proximity. This is a hotel that was born from the belief that great hospitality and great culture are inseparable. Our Victoria Harbour is the same harbour that greets the world’s artists each spring. Our neighbourhood is home to museums, performance halls, and promenades that come alive with creativity every March. To be here, at this address, during this month, is to understand why Hong Kong continues to matter on the global cultural stage. We don’t simply recommend Art March to our guests — we champion it, because championing Hong Kong is what we do. And there is no better time to feel that than right now.
