6 March 2025 (Hong Kong SAR) – In a celebration of art, passion and creativity, The Lobby Lounge at Regent Hong Kong is partnering with Hong Kong Ballet to present an exclusive afternoon tea inspired by the legendary Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. From 24 March to 8 May, guests can indulge in a beautifully crafted afternoon tea set featuring a selection of exquisite pastries, each drawing inspiration from Kahlo’s bold colours, surrealist imagery and Mexican heritage.

This culinary tribute coincides with Hong Kong Ballet’s mesmerising production of Frida - a visually stunning ballet that brings to life the triumphs and tragedies of this iconic 20th-century artist. The Lobby Lounge’s afternoon tea offers a sensory journey through flavours and textures that mirror Kahlo’s artistic brilliance.

Frida Kahlo-Inspired Afternoon Tea Experience

Inspired by Frida Kahlo’s vibrant art and the vivid colours of Mexican culture, The Lobby Lounge’s Head Chef Rajiv Chowdhoory and Regent Hong Kong’s Executive Pastry Chef Andy Yeung have created an afternoon tea set that honours Kahlo’s heritage and life journey with a celebration of South American flavours and flowers. As Frida Kahlo once said, 'I paint flowers so they will not die.’

Drawing from her deep connection to nature, Executive Pastry Chef Andy Yeung has created artisanal pastries in an exuberant display of colours, textures and floral tastes:

Complementing Andy’s artisanal pastries are savoury delights by The Lobby Lounge’s Head Chef Rajiv Chowdhoory, who is creating finger sandwiches that celebrate South American flavours, including ingredients like guacamole, pineapple chutney, cage-free egg tortillas, and chipotle mayonnaise. The menu also features sweet corn and ricotta empanadas with a hint of spice.

Accompanying our homemade scones are delicious homemade jams in new spring flavours, including Hyuganatsu jam and raspberry hibiscus jam. Additionally, our freshly baked madeleines draw inspiration from South American flavours with Brazil nuts adding a delightful twist to this classic treat.

Guests can elevate their afternoon tea experience with thoughtfully crafted cocktails and mocktails:

Indulge in a Masterpiece of Flavors

Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply savoring the moment, Viva La Vida is also available in a larger size, making it perfect for grand celebrations and gatherings. Selective pastries and cakes are also available on the Regent Hong Kong E-shop: https://regenthkshop.com/

Join Regent Hong Kong and Hong Kong Ballet in a tribute to one of history’s most influential and intriguing artists over an afternoon tea set filled with vibrant flavours and creativity. Then immerse yourself in Frida Kahlo’s Surrealist world through the power of ballet

Audiences can witness this breath-taking performance at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts's Lyric Theatre from April 4 to 6. Guests holding Hong Kong Ballet tickets for Frida are entitled to a 15% discount on the exquisite afternoon tea set. Valid: From 24 March to 8 May 2025.
